FAQsEditMe Communications FAQs

What are your editing rates?

Projects vary from simple proofreads to total rewrites involving extensive consultation. EditMe usually works on a per word basis after reviewing your sample. In general, you can expect to pay in the range of 2 to 6 cents per word, depending on the level of editing and/or rewriting involved. For larger assignments, EditMe will charge on a per project basis, mutually agreed upon in advance.

What are your writing rates?

It all depends on what you have in mind. For web writing, other documents and SEO writing, please use the Contact form for a free estimate.

How do you determine estimates?

Estimates are based on the following:
  • Number of words
  • Level of complexity
  • Anticipated consultation time
  • Extra research/fact checking
Regardless of factors such as length, level of difficulty and turnaround time, you can expect to receive a top-notch "wordsmithing” effort.

What is meant by "customized editing & writing services"?

For more on that, please see custom editing and custom writing.

Can we work together?

If you want to, yes! Ultimately, EditMe's custom editing and writing service is a consultative process, but in this partnership, you have the final say!

Do you accept attachments?

Yes. All incoming documents are scanned for viruses. But to avoid hassles, please try to send "clean" files. If you prefer, we will also work with text sent in the body of an email, or, for web-based work, from a temporary login within your content management system.

Do you use Track Changes?

Yes, in fact we prefer it. For those who don’t know, Track Changes is a very effective, timesaving feature of Microsoft Word. It allows more than one person to make changes to a document by deleting, inserting, moving or rewriting text. The person on the receiving end of the email attachment may then Accept or Reject the changes, make further changes, and send it back. Track Changes allows each person involved in the process to see the changes that have been made, one at a time.

The following is an example of text that has been marked by Track Changes:

Open the document by using Microsoft Word. Then go toClick on Tools, thenTrack Changes, and Highlight Changes. Check the box Track Changes While Editing. If you want the changes to show upappear on the screen as you do them edit, make sure to check the box Highlight Changes on Screen. If you want the changes to show up on a printed copy, check the box Highlight Changes on Printed Copy. Make changes to the document. Make sure you don’t forget to save each new version of the document.

Track Changes, however, is not for everyone. If you prefer, we'll work without this feature enabled.
